Speaker

On Saturday evening there is a speaker meeting featuring a member of our CoDA fellowship.  He or she will share the story of his or her recovery from codependency in a setting similar to our regular weekly meetings.  This is followed by a period of open sharing during which anyone is free to participate should they wish to do so.  This meeting has always been an important and memorable highlight of the weekend and is open to all members of CoDA even if they are not attending the weekend.

Workshops*

*Current workshops are still being determined, but here is a sampling from past  retreats:
# Workshop Topic Description
1 Meditation Come enjoy and experience yoga and meditation using the Serenity Prayer.
2 Morning Affirmations Gather for a group sharing of positive affirmations to the morning sounds of the camp and light meditation music. Come share your favorite affirmations, readings, poems or anything else and experience the offerings of others.
3 How To Speak Up, Set Limits and Say "No" Are you always stretched too thin or get sidetracked by other people's demands? Do you waste time stewing over personal problems? Are you afraid to take action, fearing you'll only make matters worse? Then this seminar is for you! Learn how you can speak up, set limits and say "No" while maintaining respect for yourself and others.
4 Forgiveness A guided meditation. Forgiveness frees us of resentments carried from our past to our present, from our present to our future. Resentments hurt us, not the people we hold them against.
5 Steps 4 & 5 A workshop with exercises geared around the 4th and 5th steps - an effective session for both the newcomer and the experienced 12 stepper.
6 Inner Child Experience the spontaneity, lightness, humor and free spirit of the child within.
7 Finding Your Self Worth What does it mean to love yourself? What are the things blocking you from giving yourself the nurturing and support that you need? Join us in this interactive exploration into great self discovery.
8 Perception Is the way we see things the way they really are or just our truth? Have you ever thought about the way you perceive things, people or situations? What affects the way that we see things? Participants of this workshop will experience an introduction, group exercise and group discussion processing the exercise.
9 Higher Power Open Forum Discussion: Participants will be encouraged to share their own experience, strength, and hope in regards to their journey and relationship with the God of their understanding.
10 How Do You Feel Today? Codependents have trouble identifying their feelings. In this workshop we will focus on our feelings, knowing what they are and what to do with them. We will learn about our needs and how to get them met without manipulating or wanting someone else to guess what we need and then being resentful if they don't fulfill it.
11 Relationship Vision Develop a Relationship Vision: Clarify what you require in a relationship in order for it to be successful. Begin separating requirements from needs and wants - asking ourselves, "What do I absolutely need to make a relationship with another person work?" If time permits, we will create a list of wishes for our lives with the theory that we can dream big and ask our higher power to bring great things into our lives.
12 Women's Workshop Take a leap of faith and join us for this retreat tradition - a gathering of women.
13 Men's Workshop Don't think about it - just attend and experience whatever it is you are meant to -- as we take time to share with other men and chant. This session is always powerful.
14 Ritual and Recovery For the purposes of this workshop, we are defining "ritual" as a symbolic act that represents a reality we would like to celebrate or overcome in our journey of recovery. The participants will create a healing community to support one another as each of us is encouraged to make our own ritual in the midst of a safe place.
